Arm Lift

Purpose

To reduce the hanging excess skin envelope when one lifts the arm up such as when one waves bye-bye. Such a dangling piece of excess skin is often the result of weight loss.

Details

The excess skin and fat on the inner aspect of the arm is assessed and markings are made. The excess is removed at surgery and the wound then closed.

A drain may sometimes be inserted.

Some surgeons advise a pressure garment in the initial week or 2.

Vigorous activity with the arm should be avoided in the first 2 weeks.

Result

There should be no more hanging skin after the procedure.

Caution

Arm lift is not a weight reduction procedure. A scar is to be expected at the incision site.
