Thigh Lift

Purpose

To correct fat and skin redundancy in the thigh buttock areas.

Details

The surgeon defines the areas requiring treatment with the patient and markings are made pre-operatively.

Excess skin and fat are excised through incisions in the lower abdomen extending around the waist to the back to ascend soft tissues along the lateral thigh and buttock.

Drains are often inserted after the procedure.

Bed rest with legs abducted is usually advised in the first few post-operative days.

A urinary catheter may be present.

Supporting pressure garments help with recovery.

Result

The final result awaits settling of swelling which may sometimes take up to a few weeks to be fully resolved.

Caution

Liposuction is not a form of weight reduction procedure. Some possible complications are flap edge necrosis, wound dehiscence, infection, haematoma and seroma formation.
